So here it is fight fans! The Lab MMA’s very own Justin Rodgers in his fight against Nathan Guitard!
That was a textbook example of how to win an MMA fight, and Justin executed it perfectly. He never even got hit. This is a clear case of total domination of an ill prepared opponent.
Something else this clearly illustrates: It’s great having a coach who has a black belt in jiu jitsu. That fight was all on the ground, and I bet Justin is pretty comfortable on the mat. It was pretty clear in the fight that Justin knew exactly what he was doing with each change of position.
Nathan had some weak attempts at defense, but they were quickly steamrolled by Justin’s superior technique. From getting out of what looked like a half-assed defense, to taking the mount, then applying some beautiful ground-and-pound, Justin clearly knew what he was doing. His moves were all carefully orchestrated, and he moved in to each subsequent move with easy determination.
And when he slid around it took the back, it was all over. Nathan barely even struggled before he gave way under the pressure of Justin’s rear-naked choke. He obviously knew struggling was futile. Perhaps next time Nathan will spend a little less time working on his stand-up game, and more time on the ground practicing jiu jitsu.
As for Justin, let’s look forward to his next fight! After a victory like that, there has to be another one!
And this proves beyond doubt: The best place for MMA in Fredericksburg is The Lab MMA! Check in tomorrow for a review of another fight from the BattleFC fights on 7/16!
